About this petition

8 Weeks for Families is a grassroots petition campaign calling on the Irish Government to extend statutory paternity leave from 2 weeks to 8 weeks. By signing, you are adding your name in support of this goal.

By signing the petition, you agree that:

• The information you provide (name, email, county) is accurate and truthful
• You are signing voluntarily and of your own free will
• Your signature may be counted in aggregate totals presented to government representatives, media, and the public
• Your individual name and personal details will not be shared publicly without your explicit consent
• If you opt in to campaign updates, you may receive emails about the campaign's progress. You can unsubscribe at any time

How signatures are used

Petition signatures will be used to:

• Demonstrate public support for extended paternity leave to elected officials
• Show geographic distribution of support across Ireland's 26 counties
• Provide aggregate statistics to media and advocacy groups

We will only ever share aggregate numbers (e.g., "5,000 people have signed"), never individual signatory details.

Personal stories

If you share a personal message with your signature, we may use anonymised excerpts in campaign materials (e.g., "A father from Cork said…"). We will never attach your name to a quote without contacting you first for permission.
