# 8 Weeks for Families

> Grassroots Irish petition to extend statutory paternity leave from 2 weeks to 8 weeks, bringing Ireland in line with European norms.

Ireland currently provides just 2 weeks of statutory paternity leave, paid at roughly €299 per week, one of the lowest entitlements in Europe. 8 Weeks for Families campaigns for an extension to 8 weeks of properly paid leave for fathers and second parents, with the goal of presenting the petition to the Oireachtas at 10,000 signatures.
